Connor Drader – Shaman
I grew up in a small town in southern Alberta north of our family land on the border of Canada and the US. The area that is most know there is Writing on Stone provincial Park. This area is known for the indigenous people’s writings in the sand stone cliffs in the area. Our family farm of many generations is about a 10-minute drive from there. And even their some of the native peoples consider our land to be sacred. So from the beginning I was born into a place that had sacredness to it.
Growing up I always knew there was more to our world that was taught in the traditional teachings of the church. I remember being as young a 5 and refusing to go to church. As I grew and was not allowed within the social structure I was in, became angry toward the world. Eventually I left the small town I was raised in and though a series of events ended up in Calgary Alberta. Looking back I now know that I was being guided to where I needed to be. In my several moves before I landed in Calgary I see that I on more that one occasion was receiving channeled information and messages and guidance from my Guides.
When I moved to Calgary I began my journey I was introduced by my cousin to her Aunt on the other side of the family. Janet her aunt was a practicing healer for the Ojibwa tribe in Saskatchewan. This introduction began my journey into the spiritual world at the age of 19. I studied with her for about 2 years before she passed away. In her transition she made sure I could continue and was lead to my teacher of many years and today. Shamanism is a path of constant learning and growth. There will always be more exploration and healing work to do for me on a personal and professional level as a teacher and leader.
I was very eager to learn the new path I had found, it was magical. These people I was studying under made references to Carlos Castaneda, Lynn Andrews, and Hyemeyohsts Storm. Names of shaman I knew, had heard of, or read their books, all working the same path unbeknown to me. Through my years of study I learned many wondrous things, healing myself along the way. Thought the years I have followed my desire and need to move to the locations that allowed me to study and learn what I needed. This journey kept me in Calgary for 6 years, took me to Toronto for 4 years, back to Calgary for 8 and finally to here in Ladysmith BC on Vancouver Island.
I could think of no better place to be and to have set up our healing centre. Depending on whom you ask, Vancouver Island is a remnant of Lemuria. Coming here was like coming home for me, as it is for so many light workers and healers.
