Karin Schieber – Ayurvedic Massage

My interest in the alternative Healing arts started many years ago, by studying Homeopathy, Reiki Therapeutic Touch, and Sacred Healing Meditations I then came in contact with Ayurvedic Massage, while staying in India, and subsequently studying with an Ayurvedic Master in India.
Ayurvedic Massage has been used for thousands of years, to rebalance the whole human system. “Ayur” means life, in all its forms, and “Veda” science or knowledge. So Ayurveda concerns itself with the science of living a healthy and balanced life. Ayurveda teaches that everything and everyone in this universe are connected, and made up of the “ Pancha Maha Bhootas”, the five great elements, Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. Each human body has been born with its own natural balance and disease manifests when balance is disturbed. Ayurvedic Massage helps to re-establish our natural balance.
According to India’s great sages and yogis, the roots of Ayurveda go back to the very beginning of cosmic creation. The Vedic seers state that Ayurveda originated from Brahma, the creative intelligence behind the universe.
There are 107 Marmas in different regions of the body, and a Marma is defined as an anatomical area where flesh, arteries, veins, tendons, bones and joints meet, to form the seats of life. It has secret and significant valves at these junctions. The aim is to clean the whole human system, and balance it on all levels of being. The Ayurvedic Marma Massage follows a path, from the feet to the head, through the various Marmas and Chakras.
The massage works on all levels of our being as follows.
The physical body we stimulate by working from the feet (connection to earth) up to the head (connection to brain and ether).
As we massage the body, we activate the water element,(lymph, blood, fluids), and as we continue the fire element, (heat in tissue, organs) it activates and begins to dislodge toxins. The water element then transports them to exit points, (sweat, urine, breath). As toxins are eliminated, the organs, circulation, respiration, the whole body functions better.
The energetic body feels the improvement of the physical, but is stimulated by the activation of Marma points, that we stimulate as we work. This work combines to free the pranic and vital energy flow in the system.
The emotional body feels also the benefit of the work, as our body tissue carries memory of the past experiences, these experiences can be re awakened during the massage.
The treatment helps to free the tissue and emotions of their blockages.
The mental body feels the benefits as well, as new clarity, and often makes lifestyle changes.
The higher bodies (astral, spiritual), our spiritual connection and connection to consciousness all become clearer, and more balanced.
Ayurvedic Medicine and Massage has been practiced for over 5000 years, and is even acknowledged by the World Health Organization, as one of the most important traditional forms of alternative medicine.

Wishing you perfect health and well being,
Namaste, Karin
